The birds (and chipmunks and squirrels) used it right away. Platform feeders are difficult to find, and usually expensive. It's solidly built, I can see it will not sag or rot like past wooden feeders that would only last a year.

You must buy the Perky-Pet Transparent Squirrel Baffle to make this feeder work; otherwise I would return it. CONS: since it's one-sided, only one bird feeds at a time. Most importantly, it does NOT defeat squirrels.

I bought one of these a few years ago in a store, cost a lot more then purchasing it from Fleet Farm, even with shipping. Very pleased with purchase, I really like the feeder as do the chickadees.

The red squirrels had a party inside of the feeder. The ate all of the suet. Absolutely THE BEST squirrel proof feeder EVER!! Sturdy construction. It takes the songbirds a week or two to learn how to get into the suet but they do and it keeps the bad...

The receiver was very happy with the gift. Nicely assembled along with a good paint job with a cute pine shingled roof. Too bad it is made in China. Seems like good quality. Bought this @ a month ago.

Poor workmanship. I also closed off half the holes and modified the remaining ones to starling resistant crescent shaped then doubled the size of cavities inside which should be 6 x 6 x 12 not 6 x 6 x 6.

Now only if I could keep the nasty squirels off it it might last longer. Being that it is the large size (68oz) it takes them a wiloe to get it down. I have purchased these several times because the wild life live it! Birds of all sorts love the pine...

So,,, tin order to get more(because my birds ate them like crazy) I went online to get from Fleet Farm. I live 3 hours north of there. I bought these A Fleet Farm/ Oshkosh.

I suspect raccoons tried to get to the hanging feeder. I had a previous gazebo style feeder that lasted for about 50 years.I was expecting more from this product. The hanging wire was stripped out of the center and would not reinsert, the clear portion...

This has been a good purchase. It keeps the squirrels out and some of the larger birds.
