They would feed on the bird seed we put out, but since we bought the Kaytee peanuts they clearly love them and don't bother with the bird seed. I mix the whole peanuts in with the nut and fruit blend as well.

At this price, a must.only down side, birds prefer a perch, so we added a coated hanger piece thru middle, bent on each side now we get 4 birds at a time. Year round use. We fill half way to see bird on either side.
