The success of a muskie stocking program has only added to this lake's reputation. Lake Vermilion in Minnesota is ranked as one of the state's premier fisheries with the focus on walleye, northern pike, smallmouth bass, perch and bluegill.

Eagle Lake is one of the most famous fishing destinations on the continent, and one of the the few waters available with a history of producing 60+ pound muskie!

The walleye harvest is over 5 million fish annually! Perch are on the increase, and smallies are caught in the 5-to 6-pound range. The Bass Islands of Lake Erie are regarded as one of the best smallmouth and walleye areas in North America.

Lake Onalaska, the largest lake in Pool 7, encompasses 7,700 acres. Pool 7 encompasses 13,440 acres starting from Lock and Dam 6 and ending at Lock and Dam 8 at 11.8 miles in length and 639 feet above MSL (mean sea level).

Large northerns are present and stocked muskie are now in the 30-pound range. Rock bass provide a lot of action. Miltona is an excellent walleye lake.

A 52 pound class release is recognized as the state's second largest recorded. Many believe there is a world record in these waters. Minnesota's Leech Lake boasts world class muskie.
