The success of a muskie stocking program has only added to this lake's reputation. Lake Vermilion in Minnesota is ranked as one of the state's premier fisheries with the focus on walleye, northern pike, smallmouth bass, perch and bluegill.

Northern pike are far in numbers, and look for 5-7 inch bluegills and 6-12 inch crappie. Best known for a good bass population, there are plenty of 3+ pound fish to be caught in North Long Lake.

It is also famous for its fall sturgeon action. Holcombe Flowage is one of Wisconsin's best lakes for walleye, muskie and crappie.

Weed growth is not a problem at this time and the majority of the action is shallow. Early May and June are best for all species on this 2,409 acre lake. In summer, gamefish and panfish can be lured from the weed pockets and weed edges.

However, walleye, mostly in the 12-23 inch range, are the most sought after gamefish here. Lake Winnebago in Winnebago County, Wisconsin is known throughout the country for its lake sturgeon spearing season.

Eagle Lake is one of the most famous fishing destinations on the continent, and one of the the few waters available with a history of producing 60+ pound muskie!

It has long been famous for lake trout and rainbows, and there are also trophy walleye, northern pike and smallmouth available. Big Green Lake in Green County, Wisconsin is the state's deepest lake at 236 feet.

The walleye harvest is over 5 million fish annually! Perch are on the increase, and smallies are caught in the 5-to 6-pound range. The Bass Islands of Lake Erie are regarded as one of the best smallmouth and walleye areas in North America.

Lake Onalaska, the largest lake in Pool 7, encompasses 7,700 acres. Pool 7 encompasses 13,440 acres starting from Lock and Dam 6 and ending at Lock and Dam 8 at 11.8 miles in length and 639 feet above MSL (mean sea level).

Large northerns are present and stocked muskie are now in the 30-pound range. Miltona is an excellent walleye lake. Rock bass provide a lot of action.

A 52 pound class release is recognized as the state's second largest recorded. Minnesota's Leech Lake boasts world class muskie. Many believe there is a world record in these waters.

Lots of pressure, but a quality fishery with walleye, trophy muskie, northerns, largemouth and panfish.

There are not a lot of trophies, but numbers are high. This is your now your favorite bass and muskie lake! Probably the finest 'action' lake in the state for these fish.

Willow Flowage is a huge sprawling impoundment loaded with walleye and crappie. Over 70 miles of state protected, undeveloped shoreline and numerous islands create a Canadian-like wilderness setting.
