Butterfly Iris Plant

Easy to establish as perennial plants they are often used in mail-box gardens and borders. Exotic color contrast that is different than the usual blue and yellow. They make nice cut flowers for Mother's Day, that last long in the vase.

They will perform best when planted in well drained soil that will be dry in the summer. Also called Orchid Iris, this variety is cross between the blue Iris histroides and yellow Iris winnogradowii.

This re-blooming bearded iris has glorious, velvety dark purple-blue flowers that go well with all other colors in the garden (and bouquets!), and is especially effective contrasted with oranges and yellows.
