Until 31st December it was being actively farmed with subsidies for 425 ewes and 25 cows. Due to semi-retirement, this has been reduced to only the cattle, with much of the land being intended for cereals this year instead. However, the DPU remains transferable with the property and the SAFER are on hand to help with the formalities of this. There are approximately two hectares of woodland a small lake on the land. The buildings are laid out around a traditional courtyard. There is the main house, two old cottages used until recently as a sheep pen, two enormous barns, a fantastic old maison de maître' for renovation and various other hangars and sheds. The main house has been lived in until last autumn, but goodness me, it is a bit basic! There is no heating and the bathroom is in serious need of some attention. That being said, it has lots of potential - much of which could be brought into evidence with a large sledge hammer! Take down some of the partitions and the false ceilings to expose the old beams and open the place up and it would make all the difference in the world. The attic space is fabulous too, with great beams and would easily convert into two big bedrooms and a bathroom. Once you have finished knocking about the ground floor you would end up with a kitchen, huge living rooms and another two bedrooms and a shower room. The two old cottages should have the potential to be reconverted into gîte accommodation and we are currently in the process of requesting outline planning for this just to make sure. The maison de maître' is a ground up renovation but could be fabulous, with its huge old beams, granite fireplaces and stone walls. With the beautiful farmyard and pond, this could really be acoup de coeur' - love at first sight! A gorgeous place if you're looking for room for horses, sheep or cattle - with massive scope and very beautiful and tranquil.
