37. Cattle News: DJ US Cash Cattle Midday: Limited, Scattered Trading
KANSAS CITY (Dow Jones)--Only limited, scattered fed cattle trading was reported across the Plains states Friday, with trading slowing after futures prices rebounded, market analysts, brokers and cattle feeders said. Urner Barry's Yellow Sheet Friday said apprehension about continued market strength revolves around middle meats, and the slightly weaker undercurrents near term. That's part of the reason feeders who haven't sold yet this week were so bullish about pricing, the sources said....

38. Cattle News: State's brucellosis-free status at risk
Seven Montana cows have tested positive for brucellosis, and if at least two cows from a separate herd near Emigrant test positive next week, Montana will lose its brucellosis-free status. That means Montana ranchers would have to pay to test all adult cattle being shipped out of state until Montana can regain its brucellosis-free status. The infected cow was traced back to a herd of 301 cows in Bridger, and that herd was quarantined after six more cows tested positive for brucellosis....

39. Cattle News: RECREATION: Book sheds light on intellegence of cows
Over the years, whenever someone has categorized cows as "stupid" or "dumb," I have taken a pro-bovine stand. Paging through the book, it is obvious that all of the cows are leading lives that are more exciting than mine. Idle writes, "When you see cows standing in a pasture blandly chewing some dreary bit of grass and staring into the middle distance, you'd never guess what lies beneath that...

41. Cattle News: How about making a robot that cleans?
So it wasn't a big step for the computer whiz kids to take the electronics that give The Farmer an "error, error, error!" message when something in the round hay baler mechanism is goofed up and expand that technological "thought process" to something that acts on such a message and fixes it. 42. Cattle News: business@large
If the customer is supposed to be " King," my experience last week on a flight makes me more sympathetic to those airline employees who occasionally advocate regicide. The situation is so bad that most of the airlines have hired consultants to experiment with different ways of filling the plane, such as by boarding window-passengers first. That might shave a few minutes off boarding, but I think there is more that can be done and I have some modest proposals to address the issue, although...
