I am an organic farmer in central Texas and am curious about growing saffron/crocus. I would appreciate any information and also contacts who might sell seed.

My family, wife and three boys, farmed organic grain and later organic vegetables in Illinois. We are now in Texas on land we own and want to add to our income. I have cooked with saffron, given to me by a friend from Iran and really like it. Any help or advice would be welcome. We have 5 acres in the Texas Hillcountry and so are on a karst soil, with plenty of rocks. We have hauled in soil, sand, compost and mulch to make our gardens grow, but are looking at specialty crops to boost our income.
