Crawford County Fairgrounds will be the site for the first annual North Central Ohio 4-H Market Kid Sale held on April 12. The event will be held in the new show arena at the North end of the fairgrounds! The live auction will start at 1pm. This sale is being put together by a group of meat goat producers in surrounding counties and is a collection of their best market wethers and does. All animals will meet requirements for area fairs and will be ready to go to home with you that afternoon. The producers are excited to bring you the opportunity to purchase locally raised goats, which are healthy, competitive and reasonably priced. Customer service and follow up care will be the same as buying them off the farm. The primary goal of the day is to get kids interested in the meat goat industry and raising an animal. Producers will be available throughout the day to answer questions and will help with loading upon completion of the sale.
Saturday, April 12 is also great opportunity to learn if you or your child is thinking of taking a meat goat to the fair this summer. Starting at 10 am, a hands-on showmanship clinic will allow kids and adults to listen and ask questions of an experienced judge. The clinic will continue till 12 noon. Animal viewing will be held from 9am to 12:30pm. Also area goat supply businesses will have a trade show area for your information and browsing. Lunch and snacks will be available for purchase from local 4-H clubs.
