We are looking to buy corn for our annual fundraiser. We want to buy 1000 cons. The most affordable we have been able to buy it locally has been at 4/$1.00 at Savemart. We sell corn on the cob with chilly, lemon, mayonaise, and mexican-parmesean cheese. Our profit margin is very low. We have the event at Parlier, located in Central California, the second lowest socio-economic community in the State of California. Our effort are to improve/reform public education in that community by empowering and education parents, community, and board members on the importance to provide equitable access to ecucation to English Learners in all aspects of education. We contacted the Federal Dept of Education and CA Dept of Educ to investigate the educational needs of the students. The school district is presently being monitored by the Fed Dept of Ed and will continue to do so for the next 5 years. The district was found out of compliance in regards to California policy of operation and in violation of Title VI, Civil Rights toward language minority students(70% of student population-out of 3, 600), classified as English Learners. We want to continue to assist these students and provide them with scholarships. We hope you can help us.
