Approx. 30 lbs. of East Indian Elephant Ivory w/appraisal id of 100 yrs +. Almost 1K pcs. all cut the same. Details Approximately 30 pounds of East Indian ivory. Part of an estate, it carries a certified appraisal (1980) identifiying the pieces as pre-ninteenth century. There are nearly 1,000 pieces, all reletively the same in size and shape. Most still retain a simple metal clasp system at both ends. I am told these were worn by women of a professional dancers caste in India. Some show various degrees of henna discoloration on the inner curve of the ivory segment.
