Responsibilities

Maintenance - ranch-type maintenance, welding, water, electric, grounds, hay wagons, truck mechanic, heavy equipment operator, mobile home maintenance, variety of skills needed. Trail guides - guide rides through mountainous desert preserve, basic horse care, clean stalls, feed, groom, tack, cookouts and evening rides. Cook - cook for crew of 15 or more, cookouts of 8-300 with fixed menu, plan crew meals, shop within budget.

Qualifications

Maintenance - Experienced, with recent references, current drivers license, some tools, couple ok if other wishes to fill cook's position. Trail guides - recent experience with trail riding, customer service skills, able to work as a team, enthusiastic, upbeat, good work ethic and attitude, mature, responsible, knowledge of horse herd situation. Cook - able to plan and prepare plenty of nutritious, appetizing meals for crew, maintain clean kitchen and common areas, knowledge of quantities and preparation of cookout needs, prepare cookout food outdoors using charcoal grills and over open fire.

Maintenance - Fix, repair, replace existing fixtures as needed; weld fences, gates & other infrastructure; maintain ranch truck; maintain and repair mobile homes; maintain and repair evap coolers; light construction and repair, including roofs, windows, walls, doors, etc.; maintain and repair hay wagons; light electrical repair/renovation; water line repair as needed; paint; maintain grounds; emergency repairs; variety of ranch-type tasks. Perfect for retired individual or couple, if both qualify.
Trail Guide - Catch, feed, saddle, guide trail rides. Clean stalls, daily chores, grounds upkeep, light vet duties, cookout rides, evening rides, customer skills, team player, clean and neat appearance, bunkhouse living. Other duties as requested.
Cook - Prepare breakfast before stable opens for business; prepare light lunch; prepare full dinner or cookout for customers (which feeds crew, too). Maintain kitchen cleanliness, dishes, floors, cabinets, fixtures; clean common areas and bathrooms; shop, plan and prepare meals within budget. May participate in riding if time and desire.
All positions live on property with no kids, or significant other, except if couples qualify. Room and board included, board for 1 horse if able to fit into herd situation. No stalls available. Pet considered depending upon needs and type. Must be able to remain in room/crate, able to get along with existing personal animals, have good manners. Dogs are not allowed to accompany rides, and must not be horse chasers. 6-day work week. No benefits. Monthly salary DOE.
