Responsibilities
 
Responsibilities of this position include supervising, maintaining, and
scheduling the efficient and safe breeding and farrowing of sows to reach
production and financial goals for the operation.
 
Qualifications
 
Education and Related Experience:

1. Bachelor's degree in Animal Science or related field preferred.
2. Experience in a large-scale total confinement operation, with
concentration in breeding, gestation and farrowing is a plus.
3. Strong math, communication, and leadership skills.
4. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
5. Strong commitment to team work.
6. Detail oriented and well organized.
7. High degree of urgency, flexibility and thoroughness.
8. Reliable, dependable, is a self-starter with the ability to work
independently without constant direction or supervision.
 
Job Description
 
Essential Job Functions

1. Organize and delegate work schedule to department team members.
2. Collecting and extending semen.
3. Heat checking sows.
4. Artificially inseminate sows successfully to meet productions goals.
5. Maintain cull and gilt flow.
6. Vaccinate and oversee health of sows.
7. Record and manage accurate breeding data.
8. Feeding lactating sows.
9. Processing, treating, and castrating pigs.
10. Manage weaning and sow movement.
11. Maintain sow cull on farrowing productivity.
12. Vaccinate and oversee health of sows.
13. Power wash, clean, and sanitize farrowing barn.
14. Record and manage accurate farrowing data.
15. Train and motivate department team members.
16. Maintain equipment.
