Responsibilities

1. Before camp season, work with Lead Instructor to set up program area, assist in care of and evaluation of each horse. 2. During pre-camp, work with Lead Instructor to teach staff members their roles and responsibilities at the Horse Program 3. Participate in the facilitation of a horse program: -that meets Camp Goals for each participant -that gives each participant the experience and insight to general horse care, trail riding and ring riding -support and participate in classifying/evaluating each horse as to its suitability for different levels of riding skill -support and participate in evaluating abilities of campers and staff and match appropriately with horse, equipment and instruction -work with others during special camp events that involve the horse program 4. Teach and monitor proper use of equipment. 5. Assist in conducting initial and end-of-season inventory, and keeping equipment in good condition. 6. Training and experience with horses Desire and ability to work with children outdoors Current CPR and First Aid certifications Ability to relate to one's peer group Ability to accept supervision and guidance Good character, integrity and adaptability Enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience, and self-control High School diploma or equivalent and at least 18 years of age

To work with the Lead Instructor, camp administrative staff and volunteers to provide a safe, challenging and fun horse program that meets the Camp Goals with participants. Integrate learning about horses with learning about leadership for youth 12 to 15 years of age.
To provide selected campers with a rewarding outdoor experience by: Developing self-confidence and independence Developing leadership and teamwork skills Developing maturity and responsibility Have Fun!
