Job Description
|
| |
Freehold Equine is a breeding facility located in Peterborough, Ontario. We currently stand three stallions at Freehold Equine and are expecting four 2005 foals. Our young horses are coming of age to become active in the show world and are only waiting for the right person to ride and train them.
We are looking for a mature person who is seriously dedicated to horses and committed to excellence in the horse industry. Preference will be given to experienced riders with a history of training and handling young horses.
Riding opportunities include the starting of young horses, continuing training on started horses and showing horses on local and recognized circuits. Among others current horses needing work include: four-year-old stallion to be prepped for showing baby-green in 2006; six-year-old stallion to show training level dressage, start over fences; four-year-old mare lightly started to prep for training level dressage; three-year-old gelding to be started. Many long-term showing possibilities are available.
Gain experience in handling stallions, breeding mares, foaling out mares, handling youngsters, and many other aspects of operating a breeding facility. We attend several line shows over the summer and fall including the Royal Winter Fair in November. We are also involved in stallion and mare inspections and other breed related activities.
We are looking for someone who is interested in making a go of things longer-term. While this is NOT a paying position, it is a wonderful opportunity for a dedicated individual. The possibilities of this position are only limited by the individual who takes the position. We want a person who will mesh with our breeding/training program long-term and who will have the opportunity to become fully involved in ALL aspects of our program.
The position is full-time, live-in. All food and basic living costs will be covered. Other considerations can be discussed.
Applicants must be over 18 and finished with school. Preference will be given to mature individuals with plenty of horse experience.
If you are interested in this position please contact us or by phone.
