Responsibilities

|
Report to manager. Daily care of all stock - to date approximately 60 horses including breeding mares, weanlings, yearlings, racing stock, retired stock. Pasture management, irrigation systems management, general property maintenance, transport stock as required, implement landscape plans, maintain equipment, operate machinery including truck, tractor, seed drill, plough, spray units, bobcat, mini excavator amongst others. General farm practices including spraying. Minimal, but some, book work.

This is a full time career position on a family owned and operated throughbred stud farm located in a beautiful coastal wine growing area. Accommodation is provided in a new 3 bedroom house (just completing now), with furnishings supplied such as washing machine, fridge, dining and lounge suite as required. Hours can be long and often on weekends or at night during stud season. Generous bonuses are paid annually and are performance based. Opportunities to attend race meetings are available from time to time. Access to training/education is encouraged. A positive work ethic is fostered and an open style of management is pursued. Duties are as per the responsibilities outlined previously but not limited to this. All facets of stud practice apply excepting stallion management. All stock is privately owned.
