At 19 years of age, I have been riding and training horses for 13 years, and have shown both Working Hunter, Eventing, and Dressage. I'm currently a Sophomore in College in Virginia (conveniently, at a school with a Riding Team!) but I originally hail from Conroe, TX. I began my riding career training and showing Welsh Ponies and Cobs in open and breed specific classes, then moved on to three day events and Dressage. While I loved every minute of it, by the time I was 16 I realized I needed to expand my horizons beyond the smaller breeds. So, I've been looking for a horse for quite some time to fill my needs as a truly active and competitive rider in Jumping and Dressage, who also has conformation that will not prove to be an obstacle. Tired of training them myself and never getting to reap the benefits of my labor, I prefer a horse will a little more experience, but who is still a challenge and willing to Learn. However, I'm very leery about purchasing a horse without actually working with it first. I have had a very bad experience with a beautiful, but ill tempered Hanoverian mare (out of DavignonSPS) whom I purchased with only my trainer's assurance that she was a fit animal for my needs. After a year of intense work, I finally came to the conclusion that the horse simply didn't want to work with me, and that it would be better to sell her to someone more fitted to her attitude, or better yet, who would return to using her as a broodmare, which she was before I purchased her. The consequences of this trial by fire proved expensive and thwarting not just for me, but also for my parents. I'm seeking a horse who is ready for a firm but kind rider and has the abilities to excell, particularly in Jumping. A clean bill of health is preferred, and I favor horses that go barefoot. Also, We're still recovering from the losses we've sustained from the mare, and I am hoping to be able to work with the seller on the prices that exceed $14,000. Thanks!Lacy Cotto
